Rooftop Terraces : the most beautiful in Montreal

Oh, summer! The season we wait so long for, only to watch it fly by our eyes once it finally arrives. At Tastet, we do everything we can to make the most of this amazing time of year.

Especially in the realm of restaurants, summer is a busy season. Thanks to the abundance of fresh and high-quality local produce, this time of year allows us to indulge in some of the tastiest, most vibrant and colourful dishes that Montreal has to offer.  And of course, we believe that the best way to enjoy these seasonal dishes is in the outdoors with an amazing view of the city.

Rooftop terraces are few and far between in Montreal, but they are so atmospheric and festive that it is always worth putting in some effort to find a great one. To make this task a little easier for you, we have curated a list of our own favourite rooftop terraces in the city. Enjoying a drink on the rooftop and admiring Montreal from a new perspective is one of the best simple pleasures of the sunny season, as long as we are somewhere where the drinks are good, the service is friendly and the setting is beautiful.

If you are not one for high altitude destinations, we also have lists dedicated to the best street-side terraces, the best hidden patios, and the best indoor terraces in Montreal – got to make the most of the weather while it lasts!

Bon appétit, and have a happy summer!

If you happen to know of any amazing rooftop terraces that you feel deserve a spot on this list, send an email to [email protected] so we can add it. Suggestions from our readers are always very appreciated!

1201 Boulevard St-Laurent

On the second floor of the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), you will find restaurant Labo Culinare. With a super special terrace that features an incredible view of the city, this address is also on our list of the most beautiful restaurant terraces of Montreal. From the words of Jean-Philippe Tastet himself,  “The terrace is magnificent, overlooking the chaos and, when it comes to immersive experiences, the house’s chefs offer an exceptional performance every single day. There is a new theme each month, and the menus change every two weeks. Balance and creativity at all times.”
