On Boulevard Notre-Dame Ouest, wine bar Stem offers modern, delicate cuisine. Opened in January 2020 with the guys from September Surf Café, the restaurant warmly invites the neighbourhood’s locals to share laid-back, convivial moments.
Designed by Ravi Handa, Stem Bar’s decor focuses on sobriety and a subdued ambiance, accentuated by tastefully arranged period details. With a capacity of up to 57 covers, this space provides a comfortable experience, whether at the bar or around small tables. Since they do not take reservations, the bar has been arranged to include a section for guests who prefer to enjoy a drink while waiting for a table, without disrupting the flow. In addition, this address is featured in our guide to Montreal’s most beautiful terraces!
In terms of cuisine, Kevin Tolton crafts market-driven cooking through a seasonal menu in constant evolution, leaving room for in-the-moment inspiration and new ideas. Built around sharing, this menu offers a selection of fresh, finely executed small plates. The dishes, both simple and indulgent, are meant to be savoured without holding back!
The real strength of the Stem Bar lies in its selection of drinks. The wine list features over 300 selections and favours small independent producers, carefully chosen through private import. As for the selection of beers, they rely on local breweries. Just like for the kitchen, the drink menu is regularly updated with beautiful novelties, thus offering customers the opportunity to make exciting discoveries throughout the year.
The Stem Bar embodies this indefinable je-ne-sais-quoi; a place where you simply feel good, ideal for a relaxed evening in Little Burgundy.
