les plus belles terrasses de cafés de Montréal

The long, dark and cold days of winter are finally in the rearview mirror, and we are prepping ourselves to take full advantage of the summer weather that is taking its place! What could be better than drinking a delicious aromatic coffee under the warm rays of the summer sun?

As is the case in any great metropolis, coffee and café culture is an integral part of city living. Here, we like to begin every morning and start things off with a cup of coffee or shot of espresso, whether that is hot or poured over ice.  For this very reason, we decided a list of all the best patios in the city to enjoy your daily caffein intake was essential! Some of the places on this list are on our list of the best iced coffees in Montreal, and also on our list of the most beautiful cafés in Montreal.

It’s not always just about simply enjoying a delicious coffee, though. Sometimes, it’s about taking your time to fully sink into the whole experience and savour the moment. Some coffee drinkers maintain their own little rituals around their morning coffee, and the setting that these rituals take place in is a crucial part of the experience. The many gorgeous cafés that reside in Montreal allow for us to take our pick of the atmosphere that best suits each of our preferences. Their patios allow us to revel in the beautiful outdoor surroundings, bask in the sun, and enjoy the cooling breeze.

We also have a list of the best restaurant patios in the city, as well as a list of the best bar patios in the city, so you can find yourself enjoying the outdoors regardless of the occasion!

Without further ado, here’s your opportunity to head out and discover some of Montreal’s best café patios!

Café Saint-Henri – Marché Jean-Talon

Saint-Henri café is obviously located in St-Henri, and they specialize in micro-roasting, coffee tasting, and offer courses on the world of coffee. The café has become so popular that a second location is now open at Marché Jean-Talon. The café is very attractive with its clean and contemporary decor, interesting textures, and the space is very luminous. The patio is just as pretty and very sunny, which makes it the perfect spot to enjoy their excellent coffee. Café Saint-Henri has introduced a fresh, modern look to the Market, and is on our list of the most beautiful cafés  in Montreal.  Next time you are at Jean-Talon, try Café Saint-Henri.

Café Olimpico

Café Olimpico was opened in 1970 by an Italian immigrant, Rocco Furfaro and it is truly  Mile-End’s go-to coffee institution. Let us introduce you to the decor of the classic sports café – nothing extraordinary, but lots of charm, character and above all, a whole lot of history. During the summer season, their large, wonderful patio attracts crowds who come to drink a good coffee at very affordable prices. We really like this Café Olimpico and its friendly staff.

Café Parvis is magnificent. The magnitude of greenery and the exceptional light are just two of the numerous elements that have built the reputation of Café Parvis. The pizzas and salads here are very good, and also very affordable. Definitely one of the most beautiful cafés in Montreal. They also have a superb patio, tranquility guaranteed in the heart of downtown. Try it on a sunny day!
Moineau Masqué Café Montréal

Le Moineau Masqué

Le Moineau Masqué is an adorable small café on rue Marie-Anne, located in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal, just a little off the busy commercial streets. It opened three years ago and the owner, Fanny Godey, is very welcoming to all her customers.  Le Moineau Masqué is cozy and the coffee is very good. The concept here is a simple one: you come to chat and meet people while enjoying good quality products. On sunny days, sit in the pretty little garden at the back with your beverage. Le Moineau Masqué is a neighbourhood café just the way we like it!

La Croissanterie Figaro

La Croissanterie Figaro reminds us of those small cafés in France. Open every day from 7am to 1am, the decor here is both old and charming! The menu is also typical of those in French cafés, and people come here especially to drink the aromatic coffee and enjoy a mouthwatering croissant in this setting that transports you across the Atlantic. The summer patio is also magnificent and feel free to think you are in Paris!

Club Social PS

Club Social PS is the amazing new café located right inside the beloved Elena restaurant. In addition to enjoying some of the best pizzas and cannolis in town, they also prepare excellent coffee. The surroundings are charming and colourful, and when you head outside, you’ll discover a green, intimate patio with only about 15 seats. Whether outside or inside, Club Social PS is friendly and lively! We really like this place. Alison Slattery — Instagram
