101 Must-Try Restaurants in Quebec
Discover the must-visit culinary spots from all corners of Quebec!

In Quebec, we take food seriously—without taking ourselves too seriously. We have chefs on par with the world’s best, but our gastronomy remains approachable and human in scale. We also make some damn good beer, exceptional wines, outstanding bread and cheeses (sorry, dear French cousins!), world-champion pizza, and of course, top-notch poutine. To celebrate the richness and diversity of our food scene—in the broadest sense—we’ve gathered the best culinary spots from across the province in one place.
At Tastet, our mission has always been to help you discover the best local tables, as well as hidden gems and insider secrets. In our eyes, devouring a steamé hot dog with mustard and coleslaw at a rural roadside shack or sipping a microbrew on a patio overlooking the St. Lawrence can be just as memorable as a 16-course theatrical dining experience in the vaulted cellars of Old Quebec.
The arrival of the Michelin Guide in Quebec and the launch of North America’s 50 Best Restaurants are exciting news for our food scene—well-deserved recognition for our chefs and artisans, whose creativity and talent will now shine far beyond the borders of la Belle Province. But we firmly believe that Michelin stars aren’t the only mark of excellence! That’s why we’ve compiled this list of must-visit food spots across Quebec, spanning all categories—from Gatineau to Val-d’Espoir, through Montreal, Quebec City, Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc, and Sainte-Perpétue.
Who is this guide for?
For visitors from afar eager to explore our terroir and cuisine, yes—but also for Quebecers looking to discover new culinary experiences in their own backyard.
About Our Methodology
Why 101 must-try spots? Because we had to start somewhere—and also to give a nod to the unique spirit of our proudly rebellious little nation. This is not a ranking or a top list: it’s an evolving collection of establishments we believe deserve recognition for their exceptional quality, regardless of price range and without any specific order.
Choosing 101 essentials out of thousands of fantastic food spots across Quebec was no easy task. To build this list, we thoroughly reviewed the culinary offerings of each region to identify standout places, which our team then evaluated based on several criteria—while making sure to represent the province as widely as possible. To be included, each establishment must meet the following criteria:
-
Have been open for at least 2 years
-
Offer a unique or exceptional product or experience
-
Be considered an institution OR a Tastet favorite OR have been recommended multiple times by our readers
-
Meet our evaluation standards (quality of food and service, value for money, atmosphere, uniqueness)
This modest selection of 101 must-visit spots is just the beginning—we’ll be adding new entries every week to create the most complete guide possible of the essential foodie destinations in every region of Quebec. And for that, dear readers, we’ll need your help! If you have a beloved spot to recommend, send it to us via our online form. Our team promises to review every suggestion with care.
All the places listed here (and many more!) are also available on the Tastet+ mobile app, your ideal companion for culinary adventures.
We hope this list inspires you to hit the road and taste all the deliciousness Quebec has to offer!
Without further ado, here are our 101 must-try restaurants in Quebec to add to your bucket list.
Happy exploring!
