Nora Gray X Miss Vickie’s: More Than Just a Potato Chip
Earlier this month, the Miss Vickie’s brand unveiled its new Ristoranti Series, a limited-edition lineup of kettle cooked potato chips celebrating the creativity of Canadian restaurants. One of three flavours from the series spotlights Montreal, and the renowned Nora Gray that lent its talent to this delicious collaboration with the Spicy Pepperoncini & Focaccia flavour, inspired by their Focaccia Maison. The restaurant is known not only for this signature dish, but also for its delicious fresh pasta, which we consider some of the best in Montreal.
Italian Traditions in a Chip
To create this unique potato chip, chef and co-owner of Nora Gray, Emma Cardarelli, took part in its development. “I was so surprised to learn that Miss Vickie’s knew who we were, and even more thrilled to find out they chose us for this collaboration,” Emma tells us. The Tastet team had the chance to chat with her to learn more about the project’s story and, of course, to taste it!
The result is a perfectly kettle cooked potato chip that delivers a perfect balance of spicy pepperoncini, tangy sweet onion, and notes of sourdough focaccia. Each bite captures the essence of the original dish, as if the restaurant itself had come straight into your living room. “I think the Spicy Pepperoncini & Focaccia flavour was the best idea, and Miss Vickie’s perfectly managed to reproduce its taste,” Emma notes. For her, this plate represents not only the beginnings of Nora Gray but also her childhood. The bread-and-pepperoncini duo is a classic of Italian family tables. That same nostalgia is now also captured in the chip.
Behind this collaboration, the teams at Miss Vickie’s and Nora Gray worked hand in hand to create the perfect balance of authenticity and flavour, transforming a simple snack into a full culinary experience. For Emma, the goal was to enable people to experience a dish from Nora Gray at home, wherever they are in the country. For us, it’s definitely mission accomplished! Grab a bag while you can, they’re available at retailers nationwide, but only for a limited time.
