Beloved Mile End pizza place Pizza Toni now has a second location on Notre-Dame Ouest. Opened at the very beginning of the year, the new Saint-Henri restaurant offers the same excellent New York-style pizza in a more spacious dining area.

Regulars of the original won’t feel too out of place at the new Pizza Toni. Same black-and-white checkered floor, same stainless steel tables, same schoolhouse lamps, and, most importantly, same excellent pizzas… it’s practically a copy-paste of the Saint-Viateur location, save for one important detail: the dining room, which can seat about 28 people.

Once again, Yoni Amir and his partners, Daniel Maislin and Alex Bates, have teamed up with long-time friends to design the restaurant. Designer David Dworkind (MRDK), who designed the first pizzeria and the two Falafel Yoni locations, imagined the space. Artist Dan Climan, responsible for the restaurant’s visual identity, painted two large cut-outs to liven up the space. Yoni also got hands-on; he built the chairs and wooden furniture.

The new location sits at the western end of Notre-Dame, near Saint-Rémi Street. A quieter spot than Saint-Viateur Street, but one that will better serve residents of the Southwest, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, and Westmount, Yoni believes.

Same menu, same pizzas

The menu is unchanged: excellent New York-style pizzas, sold by the slice or in 14” or 18” sizes, and square “grandma” pizzas, with a choice of sauces (honey, ranch, or garlic sauce). You’ll find classics like cheese, margherita, pepperoni, and “Alldresss” (with three “S”!), as well as a few house specialties (Sweet Cherry Pie with cherry tomatoes and spicy honey, Vodka Pep, and S.H.G.P., for Spicy Honey Garlic Pep) and several vegetarian (4-cheese, Fung’ail, Eggplant Parm) and vegan options (Vegan Cheese).

To go with that, you’ll find a selection of soft drinks, a few canned beers (including an Italian pilsner brewed specially for Pizza Toni by Brasserie Harricana), and small containers of ice cream to satisfy summer cravings.

“No fries, no salads, just pizzas,” says Yoni with a laugh.

After all, who needs more when the pizza is this good?

Pizza Toni Saint-Henri is open daily, for lunch and dinner, for dine-in, takeout, or delivery.
