Chợ Đêm MTL: The Vietnamese Street Food Festival Is Back!

Chợ Đêm MTL, Montreal’s Vietnamese street food festival, returns for its third edition—this time at the Peel Basin from July 17 to 20. A wide range of vendors, restaurants, and Vietnamese organizations will come together to offer a vibrant and immersive cultural experience.
Presented by the AVQ (Association des Vietnamiens Québécois), the festival’s mission is to encourage younger generations of the Vietnamese diaspora to reconnect with their roots. “Chợ Đêm” means “night market,” and the festival aims to serve as a cultural bridge between the Vietnamese community and Montrealers, while also strengthening intergenerational ties within the local Vietnamese population. By celebrating Vietnamese identity, the event contributes to the preservation and sharing of a rich cultural heritage. Join us in discovering the many gems this festival has to offer!
At Chợ Đêm MTL, several restaurants will join forces to celebrate Vietnamese street food, featuring classic favourites like bánh mì, imperial rolls, and fresh spring rolls. You’ll also have the chance to taste lesser-known specialties such as green papaya salad, bò lá lốt (beef wrapped in betel leaves), and cánh gà chiên nước mắm (fish sauce chicken wings)—mostly prepared with fresh local ingredients. And that’s not all: a lively cultural program will run alongside the food offerings, making this an experience you won’t want to miss.
Festival favourites include:
-
Golden Lotus, 3637 Sainte-Catherine East
-
An Choi Plaza, 6553 Saint-Hubert
-
Ca Lem, 6926 Sherbrooke West
