The decor — a blend of “Zébulon and Charles-Antoine,” or “Charles-Antoine by Zébulon,” as Charles-Antoine likes to say — may be described as “not too beautiful,” but in reality, the place is elegant, chic, and modern. It evokes the spirit of a classic brasserie with a twist of Crête-style whimsy: an upside-down house spinning above a table across from the kitchen, a delightfully messy artist’s studio beside Charles-Antoine’s office, Smurfs scattered everywhere… Montréal Plaza is now featured on our list of the most beautiful restaurants in Montréal and among the best places to celebrate.
On the menu, you’ll find refined and flavorful small plates crafted with seasonal ingredients. Cheryl, Charles-Antoine, and Amine Nasrallah are the culinary masterminds behind the dishes. Guests can opt for a $105 tasting menu or order à la carte from a variety of small plates. Among the house classics: oysters, whelks, veal or venison heart. Depending on the season, you might also find the famous tomato soup, Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, BLT tomatoes, or tuna in all its forms. Daily specials and a fine selection of cheeses round out the offerings. For dessert, the kitchen offers several rich and decadent sweet treats.
In the dining room, a stellar team moves with ease under the leadership of maître d’s Marcos. Their presence and professionalism make every visit a pleasure, with service that is warm, efficient, and attentive. As for the wine, sommeliers Alexandre Perron curate a list of over 400 references, including a strong selection by the glass. Note: this place is very popular! Le Montréal Plaza is one of those places you visit to enjoy a great meal and a good glass of wine with friends, on a date, or for a festive group outing. While the bill can be on the higher side, given the quality of the food and experience, the value is absolutely there.
