Where to eat well gluten-free in Montreal? Our suggestions

More and more people are choosing or needing to adopt a gluten-free diet, whether for health reasons—such as celiac disease or gluten sensitivity—or simply as a lifestyle choice. Fortunately, in recent years, a wealth of delicious and inventive alternatives has emerged. From new culinary techniques to a revival of forgotten grains like buckwheat, millet, and quinoa, options are multiplying to the delight of food lovers.

Restaurants are also following the trend. In many Montreal establishments, chefs are now more aware than ever of their customers’ needs and know how to adapt their dishes to accommodate this increasingly recognized allergen. Whether you have an intolerance or simply choose to eat gluten-free, it is now fairly easy to find great places where you can dine with peace of mind. (That said, for those with celiac disease, caution is still necessary—cross-contamination remains a risk in many kitchens.)

For a more enjoyable experience, we recommend opting for restaurants that work with seasonal menus. These establishments often focus on fresh, local ingredients and vegetable-based dishes, naturally leading to well-thought-out and flavorful gluten-free options.

Here is our list of places offering excellent gluten-free alternatives in Montreal—where dietary restrictions and culinary pleasure can finally coexist without compromise!

They come with a variety of delicious fillings, including chicken, pulled pork, vegetarian, vegan, fish, and more. The menu also features other items such as empanadas, plantains, and chicharrón.
