Nita Tout Garni is the new sandwich shop on Parc Avenue in the Mile End, and had their soft opening last Friday. The address reveals the talents of each member of the passionate team, creating an inviting place for everyone, at any time of the day.

A story of friendship

Behind this beautiful project is Marc Bungarten (Bar Henrietta, DuttyWine), Gabriel Monnin (DuttyWine), Jesse MacDonald (ex Crew Collective & Café, Voro), Nicolas Despeyroux (Vins Nomad), François Letendre-Joachim (Shaughnessy Café), Etienne Sirois, and Charles Bouchard. Le Nita is, above all, a story of friendship.

The roots of the project go back a few years, when Marc and Jesse were working together at Voro and began talking about opening a sandwich shop. They each went their own way for a while, eventually coming together to form a great team with the other partners. The idea of opening a sandwich shop had been in the air for some time, but the pandemic motivated them to take the plunge. Since they couldn’t work at their respective jobs, everyone got involved, from the painting of the walls to the opening; an inspiring team effort with a beautiful result!

Speaking of decor, Kyle Adams Goforth—whose talented touch can be recognized from Boxermans and Elena—designed the space with the team to realize a space in their image. We especially love the floor, which respects the designer’s elegant signature.

Some of the best sandos in town

From the food to the wine to the coffee, every element at Nita’s has been carefully reflected to offer customers the finest experience possible. Everything on the menu is homemade, from the sandwich bread to the soda syrups. The main attraction here is, of course, their menu of gourmet sandwiches that are bound to evolve. Their current offering includes a very good schnitzel sandwich, a veggie pate sandwich, a grilled cheese, and a breakfast sandwich. Nita is now on our list of the best sandwiches in Montreal!

The address also has your apéritifs in mind with their delicious focaccia (some of the best in town) and other surprises to come.

The owners are big fans of filter coffee. They called on their friend Dean Petty, owner of Anchored Coffee, to create a signature coffee for them that they serve in house.

Wine not?

As for wine, three of the owners are also wine importers through the agencies Dutty Wine and Vins Nomad. And so, expect to find beautiful and rare wines from producers who work in respect of the vine, the human being, and nature; and all this at affordable prices!

Although the address has only just opened, it has already won over the hearts of many; some of whom visit every day, if not several times a day. Whether you want to start your day off right with a delicious breakfast sandwich, stop in for a gourmet lunch, or stock up for your next cocktail party, Nita Tout Garni has everything you need. It opens at 7 a.m., ideal for early birds in the Mile End.

P.S. Please note that the Tastet team is a bit biased about this address because the founder of this site is madly in love with one of the owners!

Nita Tout Garni is located at 5687 Av du Parc, Montreal, QC H2V 4H2
