While on a getaway in Paris with her manager and cousin Pauline, who lives in the city, Alexandra was invited to test the Tastet+ app to discover a few carefully curated spots. A mission she sums up with a touch of sarcasm: “Poor me, what a terrible life I lead!”
Café de Flore: A Dish and a Memory
There was no better place to start than Café de Flore, located in the 6th arrondissement. Alexandra visited it with the memory of her friend Jean-Marc Vallée in mind. For her, this iconic Saint-Germain-des-Prés café is steeped in emotion: “It’s impossible to think of the Café de Flore without thinking of him.” There, she enjoyed a simple yet delicious niçoise salad, served with perfectly baked bread that, in her words, “soothes the soul.”
La Gentiane: Unpretentious Charm
Her second stop was La Gentiane, a charming French bistro also in the 6th arrondissement. Alexandra discovered hearty, authentic cuisine: “I had this giant slab of bacon.” Unpretentious and down-to-earth, this spot offered “everything you’d want in a bistro.”
Amatxi: A Hidden Treasure in the 11th
Last but not least, Amatxi—a Basque- and Spanish-inspired restaurant tucked away in the 11th arrondissement—captured Alexandra’s heart. She tried the blood sausage (boudin noir) with a glass of Basque white wine. And although, by her own admission, she’s not really “Madame Boudin,” she was pleasantly surprised.
