Since it opened in 2015, Peccadille has become a favorite spot for those with a sweet tooth on the South Shore.
Peccadille is the project of the couple Geneviève Lafitte and Jean-François Archambault (La Tablée des Chefs). Their journey was shaped by a pivotal encounter with pastry chef Patrice Demers (Sabayon), who inspired them to create a welcoming place driven by young talent. Their goal: to make everything in-house to guarantee freshness and quality — except for the bread and croissants, which currently come from Pain dans les Voiles. Peccadille is also a family story, as their five children have been involved from the start. Together, they’ve created a space where even the youngest members contribute to the bakery’s life, whether it’s preparing coffee or helping at the register. “It’s fun to see it in action, and it will ensure a future generation!” they share enthusiastically.
Peccadille means “a small harmless sin,” a nod to the sweet treats we indulge in without guilt. “Life is full of pleasures and temptations. If you’re going to give in, you might as well do it with the best,” explain the owners. This indulgent philosophy perfectly aligns with the bakery.
Under the direction of talented pastry chef Alexis Mare, Peccadille’s menu evolves with the seasons. Among the must-tries are the Caramel Bar, a true best-seller, the decadent giant cookie, and the lemon tart. For the holidays, the chocolate-crème brûlée yule log with sweet clover and the raspberry-lemon yule log, made with summer raspberries, will delight dessert lovers.
Peccadille occupies a space full of memories, built over 45 years ago by Geneviève Lafitte’s father. The bakery took over the location of the famous chocolaterie Les Chocolats de Chloé, while remaining rooted in a family environment. Just steps away is the headquarters of La Tablée des Chefs, the renowned organization run by the couple. “We’ve combined business with pleasure,” they say. The décor, designed by Jean-Pierre Viau, reflects the simplicity and friendliness that define this gourmet space.
The Peccadille logo, created by Remi Paquet (who also designed the logo for the now-closed Brasserie T!), perfectly captures the spirit of the place: playful, authentic, and unpretentious.
Peccadille’s products can also be found at Duo Choc Pâtisserie in Candiac and Pain dans les Voiles, a sign of their growing influence beyond their bakery. For Geneviève and Jean-François, Peccadille is much more than a business: it’s a human and culinary adventure, a celebration of life’s small pleasures.
Peccadille is a must-try if you’re in Vieux-Longueuil. Whether it’s for a Caramel Bar or a simple coffee break, this charming spot is worth a sweet pause.
