Brebis embodies a love letter and an authentic passion for Quebec cheeses. Nestled at 21 Fairmount Avenue West, in the heart of Mile End, this charming cheese shop, run by two young owners, blends seamlessly into the essence of the neighbourhood.

Fabien LeBlanc and Gabrielle Lett both worked at L’Échoppe des Fromages, located on the South Shore of Montreal, before opening Brebis. “We owe a lot to Max Dubois, who trained us and taught us the fundamentals of the trade,” explains Fabien.

Although the duo of friends gained considerable expertise in cheese at Saint-Lambert, they quickly realized that Quebec cheeses have nothing to envy from their counterparts around the world.

Thus, in March 2024, Fabien and Gabrielle opened Brebis, a cheese shop specializing in Quebec cheeses. “I enjoy breaking down the prejudices of our customers when they walk through our doors by offering them local alternatives to the European cheeses they’ve been consuming for years,” Fabien adds.

Brebis offers a selection of Quebec farmhouse cheeses. Contrary to what the name of the shop might suggest, they don’t sell only sheep’s milk cheese, but also cow, goat, and other quadruped cheeses.

Sandwiches, cheese platters, sweet and alcoholic treats

The sandwich offerings at Brebis are irresistible! Centered around cheese and served on fresh focaccia, they are all equally delicious. We are particularly fond of the tomme cheese sandwich with ham, pickles, and chorizo butter. The shop always offers a selection of three to four sandwiches, with at least one vegetarian option.

Brebis also sells sumptuous cheese platters, perfect for corporate events, aperitifs with friends, or even a picnic in the park. You will undoubtedly be delighted by their selection.

In addition, Brebis offers ciders, wines, and beers from Quebec microbreweries. Not to mention, they sell delicious pastries made by Le P’tit Creux in Eastman.

Enjoy your discovery!
