The Otto Group, already well known for its successes like Otto Yakitori and Bar Otto, continues to expand its footprint in Montreal with the opening of Momiji, a new restaurant in the heart of Royalmount. This ambitious project is the result of a collaboration between Hanhak Kim (founder of the Otto Group), Vienman-Cao, Choonpyo Chun, and Jinpyo Chun, who also serves as Momiji’s executive chef. The name Momiji, which means “maple leaf” in Japanese, is a nod to Canada’s iconic symbol. With Gabrielle Dubé leading the dining room, you can expect a festive culinary experience that blends sushi, grill, and bar culture.

At the helm of this new venture, Chef Jinpyo Chun brings together the spirit of Otto’s previous establishments by introducing a hybrid concept. The goal? To offer an experience where guests can enjoy a wide variety of fresh and flavorful dishes in a festive, approachable atmosphere. The menu features sushi and nigiri made with no fewer than 11 different types of fish, along with yakitori options, each marinated with care to suit the specific protein. It’s an experience that encourages sharing, discovery, and conviviality, with something for every palate.

The design of Momiji was entrusted to Zébulon Perron and features an industrial yet colorful aesthetic that blends elegance with the warmth of Japanese cuisine. The restaurant offers two distinct moods: up front, near the bar, guests can enjoy drinks and snacks in a casual setting, while in the back, cozy booths provide a more intimate space for a full dinner.

The bar serves a thoughtful selection of cocktails, as well as sake and natural wines. Food and wine pairings will also be available to enhance the dining experience. In addition, Momiji plans to offer seasonal specials throughout the year.

With seating for 100 guests, Momiji aims to be a must-visit dining destination in Royalmount—perfect for a cozy family dinner, a night out with friends, or even a birthday celebration. Open seven days a week, the restaurant is committed to always serving fresh fish. This project is truly a labor of love for the Otto Group, who have created a space where great food meets a vibrant and inclusive vibe—ideal for any occasion.

Enjoy your discovery!
