Krem & Kanel: Decadent Cinnamon Buns and Frozen Treats in Sainte-Thérèse

Recently opened in the charming village of Sainte-Thérèse, just steps away from the restaurant Deux, Krem & Kanel is a brand-new sweet counter that’s already turning heads. Behind the project are siblings Édith and Pierre-Luc, the duo behind Nordik Café in Blainville.

While looking for a second location for Nordik, they stumbled upon a small space on Blainville Ouest, which once housed a beloved neighborhood ice cream and chocolate shop. “Having worked as a chef in several local restaurants, I know the people here well, and they kept telling us how much they missed having a good sweet spot,” Pierre-Luc explains. That’s how the idea for Krem & Kanel came about: offering homemade cinnamon buns and ice cream—with their own special twist.

The cinnamon buns are the star of the show. Soft, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth, and topped with rich, creamy frosting, they’re the kind of indulgence that makes you want a second (or third) bite. During our visit, we got to try all four of the current flavors, each one made in-house. The classic cinnamon was warm, comforting, and perfectly balanced—a timeless treat. The pistachio bun, filled with pistachio cream and crunchy pistachio bits, was absolutely divine. The Biscoff version, with its generous crumble, offered a sweet, satisfying texture. And the s’mores bun, topped with melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows, was a festive, dessert-worthy delight.

But Krem & Kanel isn’t just about buns. On the frozen side, the vanilla and blood peach twist was light, refreshing, and just sweet enough. We also recommend the matcha latte slush—a vegan, original creation that’s surprisingly delicious.

And for those who can’t choose between ice cream and a bun, there’s a decadent, genius creation on the menu: a cinnamon bun topped with soft-serve vanilla ice cream. Truly irresistible.
