Capisco lands on Saint-Paul Street, bringing a breeze of exoticism and freshness to Montreal’s iconic Old Port neighborhood. Created by the team behind Tiradito and Chifa—Marcel Larrea, David Dumay, and David Schmidt—Capisco delivers the same warm hospitality in an elegant and inviting setting.

When asked where the name comes from, Marcel laughs and explains: “Capisco is a nod to pisco, the Peruvian spirit we love introducing to our guests through our restaurants.” Capisco offers Italian-Peruvian cuisine inspired by the historical ties between Peru and Italy. “After exploring Japanese-Peruvian fusion at Tiradito and Chinese-Peruvian at Chifa, we thought it was time to dive into the Italian influence in Peru and offer Montrealers a unique experience,” Marcel explains.

The menu features vibrant, flavorful creations that pay tribute to the roots of each culture. Imagine cappelletti with ají gallina—a classic Italian dish reimagined with ají amarillo, a staple of Peruvian cuisine. Or a lasagna topped with huancaína sauce—a creamy cheese and chili sauce—for a Peruvian twist on an Italian favorite. Even the comforting tripa della nonna gets a makeover with a hint of ají panca chili, transforming it into a bold and flavorful tripe stew.

When it comes to cocktails, Capisco does not disappoint. If you’ve enjoyed the creations at Tiradito and Chifa, you know you’re in for a treat. The menu, crafted by Joseph David, is a tribute to South American and European flavors, perfectly complementing the bold and vibrant dishes.

As for the décor, designed by David Schmidt, it blends wood, cozy banquettes, and green accents to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tiled floors and refined finishes add a touch of understated elegance, all enhanced by intimate lighting.

Be sure to stop by Capisco—and don’t forget to say we sent you!
