Open since November 2024, Bar Leonor has quickly established itself as a must-visit destination for savoring exquisite cocktails in a unique setting. Nestled in the heart of Chinatown, this cocktail bar captivates with its electrifying and inclusive atmosphere, perfect for festive evenings.

A New Chapter in a Legendary Spot

Located in the former space of Le Mal Nécessaire, Bar Leonor is the brainchild of Michael Rizk, Tino Rizk, and Grégoire Merlot, all veterans of Bar Pamplemousse. Their vision? To create a venue where people can enjoy high-quality cocktails while letting loose. “Nowadays, it’s almost impossible to find a place where you can have fun and still enjoy great cocktails. We wanted to create an inviting space for everyone—a laid-back spot where you can have a great time without pretension. The result? We’ve built an underground cocktail bar with a party vibe that lasts late into the night!” explains Tino.

Sophisticated Design Meets Historic Charm

Designed by Phil Nadeau, Bar Leonor features a striking mix of glossy black tiles, limewash ceilings, and warped glass bricks. These gleaming materials reflect the warm, subdued lighting that highlights the terrazzo central bar—the space’s showpiece. The original terracotta floor and stone walls ground the interior in the history of its unique underground Chinatown location. The intimate, dimly lit atmosphere exudes both sensuality and conviviality. With a capacity for 60 seated guests or 100 standing, Leonor is perfect for after-work drinks, casual evenings with friends, or dancing into the early hours. Every Friday and Saturday, guest DJs spin house beats on Fridays and hip-hop on Saturdays, creating a vibrant musical experience.

Creative and Flavorful Cocktails

The cocktail menu, curated by Michael and his team, features six expertly crafted drinks that spotlight premium ingredients and meticulous preparation. This ever-evolving menu ensures a fresh, seasonal selection of unique and innovative creations. During our visit, the standout was the Rice A Roni, a surprising blend of pisco, amaro, chocolate, rice, and orange. Prices range from $14 to $25. For classic cocktail enthusiasts, the bartenders are happy to whip up your favorites on request. Additionally, Peroni beers and two wine options are available to round out your night. The service team—seasoned mixology experts from some of Montreal’s top bars—bring passion and a friendly approach, ensuring an outstanding experience for every guest.
