After delighting Montrealers over the past decade with excellent projects like Blossom, Chomchom, Tiramisu, and many others, Lucky Belly further cement their grip on the city’s dining scene with a second location for their first restaurant, Vietnamese street-food mecca Red Tiger. The new spot opened in February of 2024 in the Angus Shops along with a second Blossom location.
A winning recipe
Designed by Atelier MRDK, the new Red Tiger’s interior echoes the original location on Maisonneuve Boulevard in the Village, though in a more brutalist and minimalist setting. The vibrant shades of canary yellow, the walnut bar, the open kitchen, and the bright red neon sign remind us of the warm atmosphere we know from the first restaurant. In keeping with the typical style of restaurants in the area, this establishment stands out with exceptionally high ceilings and a marked prevalence of concrete that updates the original Red Tiger aesthetic.
One could say that this version of the project reveals a more mature concept, serving as a vibrant homage to the significance and legacy of the group’s very first restaurant.
The same delicious Vietnamese street food
Why change a winning formula? There’s no denying that Red Tiger was the pioneer of the rise of Asian street food restaurants in Montreal. Since 2014, it has offered an authentic culinary experience with dishes bursting with flavour.
The Red Tiger Angus menu remains true to this, offering a mouthwatering variety of dishes such as mini Vietnamese pancakes with chicken and shrimp, the must-have green papaya salad, chicken wings with nuoc mam sauce, beef carpaccio with shrimp chips, grilled skewers, and many other delights.
To quench your thirst, the restaurant offers a cocktail menu with Asian flavours, featuring, among others, the house favourite, the “Me Love You Long Time,” made with tequila and watermelon.
Red Tiger Angus fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the Shops Angus district. Open for both lunch and dinner, the establishment offers the opportunity for a quick lunch break or to enjoy a lively and festive evening!
