Bistro Nolah, nestled in the heart of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, is the brainchild of Isabelle Plourde, Christopher Eamer, and Richard Taitt, three partners passionate about hospitality and the vibrant flavors of New Orleans cuisine.

Richard Taitt, whose journey led him to work alongside renowned chefs like Joe Mercuri (Mercuri, Mercuri 109), then at the Willow Inn as executive chef, crossed paths with Isabelle and Chris, who honed his skills at Toqué. Inspired by his experiences and the rich flavor palette of New Orleans, Richard nurtured the vision of opening a restaurant that captures the essence of Cajun and Creole cuisine, infused with bistro influences. Their dream came to fruition in 2010 when Bistro Nolah welcomed its first guests.

Richard’s regular trips to New Orleans influence the menu with authentic flavors, ensuring a refined gastronomic experience reminiscent of the lively streets of the Big Easy. You’ll find Louisiana classics like shrimp and grits, prepared with top-quality ingredients. The grits are cooked with cream and mascarpone, making the dish delightfully creamy. Then, there are bistro-style specials like the confit duck leg, which we particularly enjoyed. However, a visit to Bistro Nolah is not complete without tasting their gumbo, a stew that blends Cajun and Creole styles. Each bite reflects the diverse cultural heritage of New Orleans. “We try to elevate New Orleans classics with better quality ingredients, but without altering the unique tastes of this cuisine,” explains Richard. Save room for dessert, as you must absolutely try the bread pudding, topped with an absolutely decadent bourbon sauce.

To accompany your meal, the restaurant offers a selection of classic wines as well as iconic New Orleans cocktails. We highly recommend savoring the Sazerac, a regional classic. The moderately high prices are justified by the generous portions and the quality and sourcing of the ingredients used.

The dining room, with about fifty seats, is inviting and warm, with burgundy walls and a stone bar. In the summer, you can also dine on the charming terrace. Finally, the impeccable hospitality and service are noteworthy.

For Richard, Louisiana represents the perfect fusion of French culinary techniques and the soulful flavors of the Caribbean and Africa. “It’s not just about the food; it’s also the music, the culture, and the warm hospitality that define the city,” he emphasizes. This love affair with New Orleans shines through in every aspect of Bistro Nolah, from meticulously crafted dishes to the vibrant atmosphere that transports guests to the heart of Louisiana.
