Where to Lunch in Montreal This Summer

lunch

Summer has a way of turning lunch into one of the small daily pleasures. The moment the sun settles in and the city slows down just enough to enjoy it, the midday meal stops being a quick pause between obligations. It becomes a reason to sit a little longer, to catch up with colleagues or friends, to find a patio, or simply to give yourself a moment that feels good. A lunch can easily turn into an unplanned get-together, a meeting that goes better than expected, or a welcome break in the middle of a busy day.

Happily, Montreal is full of spots that lend themselves to this summer art of lunching. Some restaurants open at midday a few days a week, others roll out a patio we wait for all year, and several offer a formula that makes you want to linger longer than planned. We love the places where you can eat quickly but very well just as much as the ones where you settle in to stretch the meal out, a glass in hand, in the sun.

This list gathers a few of our suggestions for very good restaurants to enjoy the lunch hour this summer. You will find more established tables, neighbourhood spots, especially pleasant patios, and houses that make the midday meal genuinely appealing. These are places where you eat well, of course, but also where you want to be, which counts for just as much when you are deciding where to sit down.

This is not an exhaustive list, and it will keep getting better over the course of the summer. So do send us your own favourites for a midday meal worth sharing.

For more inspiration, we also invite you to explore our other lists, including Where to Lunch on a Budget in Montreal, our suggestions for business lunches that impress, and our guide to the loveliest patios in Montreal.

We wish you a wonderful summer and, above all, some very good lunches.

Restaurant nozy

Nozy, now settled in Little Italy, ranks among the city’s top Japanese tables. On Thursdays and Fridays at lunch, you find cooking that is authentic and accessible, carried by exceptional fish quality and remarkable freshness. A fine choice for a refined midday meal, where the simplicity of the approach leaves all the room for the precision of the product.

Rôtisserie La Lune

La Rôtisserie La Lune, from the team behind Mon Lapin, reinvents Quebec-style rotisserie with flair and creativity. In Little Italy, it serves a poultry-focused menu Wednesday to Saturday at lunch, with very good local products, a remarkable wine list, and a warm, convivial atmosphere.

La Cave du Parapluie

La Cave du Parapluie is the laid-back little sister of Parapluie, tucked right next door. Here you find elegant, lively cooking that puts seafood and small sharing plates front and centre. Since spring 2026, the house also runs a lunch service on Thursdays and Fridays, with a two-course table d’hôte at $35, starter and main, that changes daily, with a choice of fish or meat. You can reserve your spot or leave some of it to chance on the pretty patio, first come, first served.

Casavant

Casavant, a few steps from Jean-Talon Market, brought a welcome freshness to Villeray when it opened. On Thursdays and Fridays at lunch, it serves that same fine neighbourhood-brasserie cooking, all delicacy. Awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide two years running, it offers an experience that pleasantly elevates the midday meal.

Restaurant Moccione

From Wednesday to Friday, Moccione welcomes you at lunch. The house serves Italian cooking built on handmade pasta, plenty of mastery, and the sense of pleasure that built its reputation. With a patio that is especially pleasant in season, it is made for midday meals that spill gently into the afternoon.

Juliette Plaza

Juliette Plaza, the little sister of Montréal Plaza, quickly established itself as a very good option for lunch in Rosemont. You can sit down at midday, Tuesday to Saturday, for cooking that channels the energy and know-how of its neighbour in a more relaxed, accessible spirit. With its precise cooking, laid-back atmosphere, and lovely wine list, it has been one of our lunch favourites from the very start.
