Le Saint-Laurent Café & Bistro is a delightful restaurant in Boucherville that alone is worth a visit to the region. Open both day and night, it’s a well-established destination that we absolutely adored.

The friendship between the two owners, Guillaume Gendron-Leroux and Laurent Giguère, dates back to their childhood when they would go trick-or-treating together. Although they lost touch for a few years, their paths crossed again at Chez Lionel, where they worked together. Laurent eventually became the chef at Chez Lionel. When a friend informed them that the owners of Saint-Laurent were looking to sell, they decided to take the plunge and take over the café. In May 2019, they made the leap and bought the establishment.

Le Saint-Laurent Café & Bistro has transformed under their leadership. While maintaining its daytime café atmosphere, the place has been enriched with a bistro vibe in the evening, where you can enjoy great food and drinks.

Laurent, a graduate of the ITHQ, draws a lot of inspiration from the flavors of Southeast Asia, where he and Guillaume traveled, as well as other regions of the world. His cuisine is vibrant, flavorful, and unpretentious. Their menu is an ode to spontaneity, evolving with the seasons and what’s available in the market. The focus is on local and seasonal ingredients, and the dishes are designed to be shared. During our visit, we had the pleasure of tasting the capon chicken wings stuffed with pork—a delight! A must-try at Saint-Laurent, the fried calamari, served with gochujang mayonnaise and a variety of fresh herbs (Thai basil, mint, cilantro), pays homage to the flavors of Vietnam. These are guaranteed to remain on the menu for a long time!

For lunch, Saint-Laurent keeps a few classic staples. The grilled cheese sandwiches remain on the menu, as does the bánh mì—we highly recommend it! The menu evolves with one or two sandwiches rotating, always according to the inspiration of the moment.

The wine list is just as dynamic as the menu. It offers a fine selection of natural, organic, and biodynamic wines. “We want to support small producers; we’re really committed to staying as close as possible to the original product,” explains Guillaume. As for the cocktail menu, it follows the same philosophy as the food: simplicity and authenticity. The classics are revisited without pretension.

In short, if you’re passing through Boucherville, Le Saint-Laurent Café & Bistro is a must-stop, whether for lunch or dinner. We were charmed by the décor—a lovely little house with a beautiful, spacious terrace in the back—and by the warm welcome from the team.

Enjoy your visit!
