Palomino, the new project of the owners of Taverne Knox, is quickly becoming a must-visit for pizza lovers in Pointe-Saint-Charles.
The idea for Palomino sprouted after numerous conversations among the owners Julian Mehlman, Angelo Ruscitti, and Joe D’Angelo. Drawing on his expertise in pizza-making, Chef Angelo wanted to create a daytime project that would complement the already well-established offerings of Taverne Knox. The result? A slice shop that is likely to become a neighborhood favorite.
The style of pizza offered at Palomino is a hybrid between Sicilian and Roman pizza. As the chef points out: “I wanted to make something I love to eat. It’s really a blend of several styles of pizza. This recipe was created through a lot of trial and error, and I love the result.” His favorite pizza? The marinara, served with garlic breadcrumbs and sesame seeds—a subtle nod to our beautiful metropolis. “With a marinara, there’s no room for error; the pizza speaks for itself, which is why it’s my favorite,” he explains.
The dough, fermented for several days, is one of Palomino’s greatest strengths. It is airy, light, and easy to digest, adding an extra dimension to every bite. Among the pizzas most appreciated by customers, the vodka sauce pizza stands out and has quickly become a must-try favorite. For us, it was the potato and onion pizza that blew us away—squisito!
But Palomino doesn’t stop there. Be sure to try their dessert pizzas, which change with the seasons. We were lucky enough to taste the one with strawberries and pistachios, served cold. Decadent and surprising—give it a try, and you’ll see!
In addition to a few indoor seating options, they have a lovely terrace where you can relax and enjoy a slice of pizza (or two)! Palomino is definitely a must-visit spot in Pointe-Saint-Charles.
