In a charming red house along the Saint Lawrence River in Saint-Sulpice, you’ll find Le Casseau du Quai — a cozy, family-run cantine that opens its windows with the arrival of summer, much to the delight of regulars… and curious passersby. For over 25 years, this seasonal spot has offered more than just good food: it has nurtured a heartfelt legacy of family, tradition, and community. It’s one of our favourite addresses in the Lanaudière region!

From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with a smile by Mike and Annie, the owners. Mike, always warm and funny, takes orders at the outdoor counter, while Annie works her magic in the kitchen. Every dish is prepared with care, continuing the dream she began with her mother back in 1998, right in the family home. Never imagining that their little cantine would become a beloved local institution, they built a culinary story steeped in generosity. Today, Annie, Mike, their children—and a whole lot of passion—carry that tradition forward.

On the menu, you’ll find all the beloved Québécois summer classics: hot dogs, burgers, generous poutines, and club sandwiches. But here, every bite comes with a secret ingredient: nostalgia. A special mention goes to their hot chicken poutine—a delicious mash-up of two Québécois icons that instantly evokes summer family dinners. Spice lovers shouldn’t miss La St-Sulpice, a poutine with a kick of sausage meat. And don’t skip their famous spaghetti sauce, made from Annie’s mom Nicole’s recipe—perfect on a Michigan or an Italian poutine. As for the cheeseburger, it ticks all the boxes: juicy homemade patty, melty cheese, fresh toppings, and a perfectly toasted, pillowy bun.

Everything is best enjoyed on their beautiful terrace with a stunning view of the river—an enchanting setting where time seems to stand still. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual lunch, a family outing, or a tasty break on your vacation route, Le Casseau du Quai is a beloved destination you’ll want to return to again and again.
