Les Faux Bergers are guardians of magic. Opened in July 2017, the restaurant quickly carved out a special place in Charlevoix’s gastronomic landscape.

Previously located on the Famille Migneron site, the establishment moved in spring 2026 to Maison Simard at Laiterie Charlevoix in Baie-Saint-Paul. This new address marks an important step for the team, who continue to pursue their vision with the same sensitivity and attention to local terroir products.

“Faux Bergers” is also a parable from the Old Testament referring to sheep led astray by a false shepherd. “And we’re a bit like different sheep, doing things off the beaten path!”

Farm-to-table in Charlevoix

Chefs Émile Tremblay (Renard et La Chouette, Légende) and Sylvain Dervieux (Les Labours), along with sommelier Andréanne Guay, have created a project that reflects who they are: a warm, welcoming table rooted in its territory, celebrating the richness of Charlevoix’s local producers. This dynamic trio highlights the work of regional artisans through a cuisine that is both thoughtful and contemporary. At Les Faux Bergers, guests are welcomed as if into someone’s home, gathered around a surprise tasting menu that changes nightly.

The entire menu is developed collaboratively: inspired by the wines, available ingredients, producers’ harvests, and the rhythm of the seasons, the team crafts a distinct menu each evening. Andréanne curates the wine selections to pair seamlessly with the dishes. The result is a cohesive, refined, and highly flexible experience.

“When we started, we wanted to pay tribute to local producers. Aside from a sack of potatoes and 20 pounds of beets, all the vegetables used on our menu came from Charlevoix. We’re very proud of that. We’re constantly looking for local ingredients or alternatives—and we make it work.”

Since opening, thanks to their singular approach, their engaging trio, and their inspiring mission, Les Faux Bergers have charmed both visitors and regulars alike. At the moment, the team is in sugar shack mode at Camping Le Genévrier, next to Laiterie Charlevoix, until April 12. The new season of Les Faux Bergers will officially begin in mid-May—best to book ahead to experience this now-essential destination in the region.
