In Lévis, we had the feeling of changing pace as soon as we crossed the river: more air, more calm, and a food scene that reveals itself stop after stop. As part of our collaboration on the Lévis Food Guide, produced with Tourisme Chaudière-Appalaches and the City of Lévis, we let ourselves be guided by the neighbourhoods—from Vieux-Lévis to downtown, all the way to Saint-Nicolas—following the same thread: places where you can feel the care people put into their work, both in the cup and on the plate.
What stood out most to us is that indulgence here feels human-scaled. These are places where the team recognizes you, where the counter becomes part of your routine, where a hidden terrace is worth the detour, and where attention to detail is evident (without stealing the spotlight!). We noted some addresses that make everyday life better, and others that make you want to plan a lovely outing.
Here are our favourite spots in Lévis: places we genuinely recommend, each with its own little touch that makes you want to come back (and talk about them).
Tambour Café
The special thing about Tambour Café is the team’s thoughtful and ethical approach in everything they do. They maintain close relationships with their producers and genuinely care about raising awareness of the realities and challenges of the agricultural world. It’s also the kind of neighbourhood café we love: careful coffee extraction, a simple and welcoming atmosphere, and a counter that works just as well for a quick stop as it does for settling in. Special mention to the Baseball Sandwich (the kind of lunch that quickly becomes a go-to) and to the bag of beans you often end up bringing home.

Alicia Sanchez - Épicerie fine
The best friend of spontaneous apéros: charcuterie sliced on site, beautiful cheeses from here and abroad, antipasti, and a selection of privately imported wines that makes choosing easy. Also perfect for picking up a gourmet box or a delicious sandwich to go. Plus: the team’s welcome is impeccable!

Restaurant Le Théophile
Behind a discreet façade lies one of the most beautiful terraces in Lévis: a true oasis where you’ll want to linger from apéro through dinner. An evolving market-driven cuisine, carefully crafted plates, and dishes made for sharing, supported by a wonderful list of wines and cocktails. It’s precise, generous, and colourful—without any pretension.
Lévis
Los Balderas
An authentic Mexican table where everything is made in-house: tortillas, marinades, and salsas, with chilies imported from Mexico that truly make a difference. The tacos al pastor, cooked on a spit and sliced to order, are the must-try. The place even occasionally hosts musicians and special events.
Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon
Le Subtil
An everyday spot that checks a lot of boxes: breakfast, bowls, sandwiches, coffee, matcha, and smoothies. Subtil also features a drink menu that makes you want to try something new (yes, the iced ube!). An efficient counter, whether you’re staying in or taking it to go.

O'Ravito Café
Here, we love both the flavours and the idea behind the place: barista-style coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, and treats by Ann-Rika Martin. It’s an easy stop before or after a bike ride, and the house is also leaning into catering with a ready-to-eat counter that highlights efforts to fight food waste.
Lévis
Éclipse Café-Boutique
A bright, carefully designed café that you visit as much for the atmosphere as for its seasonal drinks (their matcha twists and lattes are well worth the stop). Bonus: the boutique corner, perfect for leaving with a little find.

Les Bleuets du Vire-Crêpes (Saint-Nicolas)
Here, people come for the blueberries… and come back for the generous brunches served almost year-round (from April to December). Inside the barn, the atmosphere is warm and the menu is truly abundant: crêpes, desserts, doughnuts, and pastries where the little blue fruit is showcased in every possible way. It’s also worth stopping by the shop, filled with gourmet products—and yes, even blueberry-based cosmetics to slip into your bag. In the summer, the place shifts into a whole different vibe and becomes a full-on destination: food truck, ice cream counter, berry picking, picnic tables… everything is set up to stretch out the moment and enjoy the countryside setting.
