Le Mangeoir, nestled just an hour and a half from Montreal, is much more than a farm-to-table restaurant. It is a true haven of peace where self-sufficiency, creativity, and hospitality come together to offer an unforgettable gastronomic experience. At the helm is Chef Guillaume Asselin, former head chef of the restaurant Les Affamés, and his partner Marie Daudelin, who traded the urban life of Hochelaga for a heartfelt project.

It all began in 2019 when Guillaume, after seven years at the restaurant, felt the urge to develop a more personal project. Passionate about self-sufficiency and agriculture, he shared his dream with Marie, who had just completed her master’s degree in project management. Together, they envisioned a place where they could cultivate vegetables, raise animals, cook farm products, and even welcome guests in a cozy inn. Their dream became a reality with Le Mangeoir, a nearly self-sufficient establishment.

The menu at Le Mangeoir’s farm-to-table restaurant is a true ode to hyper-local cuisine. Drawing on his travels and experiences, Guillaume offers dishes inspired by various cultures, yet always rooted in the fresh produce from the farm. 100% of the meats, whether chicken, pork, or even goat, come from their own farm. The vegetables are grown on-site, prepared in multiple ways, and creatively accompany the dishes. Guests have the chance to savor products of unparalleled freshness.

The experience goes beyond a simple meal. The evening begins with a tour of the farm, where guests can explore the gardens and meet the animals. Then, everyone gathers around the table for a multi-course meal, where everyone is invited to take their time. Guests arrive together, eat together, and enjoy the evening in a friendly atmosphere. It’s a moment of exchange, both with other guests and with Guillaume and Marie, who are always present to chat with their patrons.

For those who wish to extend their stay, the on-site inn offers a welcoming and calming setting. And the next day, a delicious brunch is even available! Before leaving, don’t miss a stop at the shop, where you can take a piece of Le Mangeoir home with you. Guests return not only for the excellence of the menu but also for the authenticity of the experience. An evening at Le Mangeoir is a true getaway where one can rediscover the real taste of things, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Happy discovering!
