Located in Saint-Lambert, Victoria BBQ was born, somewhat ironically, thanks to the pandemic. In fact, the space where the restaurant is located was originally intended to house another project. Although it was only supposed to be a temporary project during the pandemic, the address became extremely popular, to the owners’ surprise. That said, there is a reason why people love the food here and why it has been so successful.
The creation of Victoria BBQ is founded on a great team. Franco Parreira (of the famous Parreira traiteur) and his associate Maxime Tremblay have joined forces with Emmanuel Goubard—with whom Parreira launched the Portuguese restaurant 3734. They are also joined by Maxime Gagné, a teacher at the École des métiers de la restauration et du tourisme de Montréal, and Franco Parreira’s business partner behind Mitch Deli. These four friends know their way around a business and promise us magnificent and delicious projects every time.
Saint-Lambert is attracting more and more young families. Being a resident himself, Franco noticed a lack of family restaurants in the area. Victoria BBQ became the perfect solution to pass the time during the pandemic and offer good and accessible meals to local families. Today, the pop-up works very hard to serve an abundance of daily orders. They put their heart and soul into serving quality food, which you can surely notice when you savour their meals.
The inspiration for the menu revolves around home-made BBQ. The menu is concise, but each dish is worth the detour. From appetizers to desserts, everything is prepared on site and local ingredients are used in every dish!
The menu changes according to their mood and inspiration. According to Franco Parreira, the fried chicken with Piri Piri gravy (some of the best fried chicken in town), grilled BBQ chicken, ribs, and carrot cake are staples. Pair savoury dishes with home fries or a creamy mac & cheese topped with bacon bits. They also offer several vegetarian options, including the maple spice roasted squash with smoked yoghurt and the cauliflower sandwich. Not to mention the desserts of the moment: donuts, pies, and cookies, all delicious. It’s enough to make any member of the family happy.
Having recently acquired their alcohol license, Victoria BBQ has a nice wine list; it includes an exciting selection of privately imported natural wines. For other drink options that everyone can enjoy, try their homemade milkshake and lemonade.
It’s best to order in advance, as all orders are prepared upon request. You can place your order via DoorDash and UberEats. Check out the current menu on their Facebook page. For the famous Piri Piri fried chicken, please note that it is only available Tuesday through Thursday. Some people order several days in advance to make sure a small barrel of chicken is available!
Note also that Victoria BBQ is next door to Danny St-Pierre‘s new restaurant, Accommodation Danny, which will offer Detroit-Style pizza.
We are delighted by what this beautiful and versatile team is preparing for us! We hope that they will reconsider the ephemeral aspect of Victoria BBQ, but we recommend you go and enjoy it while you still can! You won’t regret it.
