The owners of Lou’s (Peter Mant, Max Ruiz Laing, Liam Barron, Phil Allard, and Renaud Lambert) have just opened a new restaurant right next door that’s already turning heads: Rendez-vous. With the intimacy of a wine cellar and the quality of a top-tier restaurant, Rendez-vous brings together the best of both worlds.
Curious about the name, we asked the owners. “We wanted a name that felt inviting, a nod to the idea of the restaurant as a date spot,” explain Max and Peter. “There are only 20 seats, so the vibe is intimate and cozy. We went for a slightly cheesy name, even though the restaurant itself is anything but cheesy!” It’s the kind of place you’d want to be taken on a date, yet the dishes are far from predictable: creative, flavorful, and refined.
Rendez-vous stands apart from its sibling, Lou’s, which offers classic, comforting Italian-American fare. Here, the approach is more playful and sophisticated, with each dish an invitation to explore. “The menu is European-inspired and designed to highlight local ingredients while featuring exceptional items from afar,” says chef Liam Barron. The menu will evolve with the seasons, with special dishes regularly added, promising new surprises with every visit. The plates are generously sized, so whether you’re up for sharing or savoring your own, there’s something for everyone.
As for the wine list, sommelier Dora Vincze has curated a selection of fresh, vibrant, and approachable wines that make for perfect toasts. Alongside, the cocktail menu offers affordable Mediterranean-inspired creations—tempting and refreshing.
Rendez-vous is a stunning addition to the West Island. The decor, thoughtfully designed by the owners, brings a breath of fresh, modern air to the neighborhood. White and wood accents brighten the space, and the open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs in action. With just a handful of seats, the atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Rendez-vous—we’re already charmed!
