Just a few months after launching its first pizzeria on Saint-Zotique in Montreal, Locali, the little sister of the Numéro 900 group, is landing in Quebec City. The new address opens on Friday, June 12, 2026, on rue Saint-Jean. Same concept, same friendly prices, and a New York-style pizza that just proved itself all the way to Las Vegas.
Because that’s where things really took off. This past March, at the World Pizza Championship, three pizzaiolos from the NO.900 group climbed onto the podium: Mirko D’Agata came home crowned world champion, Patrice Desmeules won the American Traditional category, and Fiodar Huminski finished second in that same category. “Winning in Las Vegas was, in a way, the proof that yes, our product is good and ready to have more than one location,” explains Patrice. Enough to confirm the moment had come to push further: “We’re not in a test phase, we’re in an expansion phase for Locali.”
Why Quebec City rather than a second Montreal address? Because the city was never far from the group’s plans, and NO.900 already has a solid following there. Patrice had been raising it with his partners for a while, convinced the Locali formula would find its crowd: “I’d even say our offering is a lot closer to the Quebec City clientele,” he says of a product he describes as ultra accessible, able to please kids and classic-pizza lovers alike. When the space opened up and the teams aligned, everything fell into place at once.
As for the dough, this is a long way from Neapolitan. The New York style relies on a fermentation of at least 72 hours, which gives an airier crust, a crisp underside, and a slice that’s easy to eat by hand. On the menu, the unapologetic classics (pepperoni and cheese, all-dressed, vegetable) sit next to tapas-style starters, including the famous fried zucchini inherited from Alexandre Brunet’s Stromboli. The chef’s pick? “The simplest one, pepperoni and cheese: it’s exactly the pizza that won in Las Vegas.” Here, we love Locali’s signature pizzas: the pepperoni diavola, topped with tomato, mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, red onion, hot peppers and honey, or the funghi with mushrooms.
The spirit of Locali Quebec City stays that of a neighbourhood trattoria, where you share the pizza set in the middle of the table, a slice each, no fuss. Cocktails at $8, glasses of wine at $10, slices starting at $4.50: “We want people to be able to come back several times a week.” These days, offers this affordable are getting rarer and rarer. It’s a breath of fresh air to eat a meal made with quality ingredients and solid technique at such small prices. In Montreal, Locali very quickly became a go-to for an excellent meal that doesn’t break the bank, and we’re confident it’ll be the same in Quebec City. Buon appetito!
