Annie McGlenchy and Joseph Munro are the duo behind Boulangerie Candeur, the beloved bakery that supplies many of Montreal’s finest cafés and restaurants. Now, they’ve brought a long-held dream to life: opening a space of their own — a place to showcase their creations, share them directly with the public, and most importantly, build something that feels true to who they are. The result? Jumeler, a charming new café in the Village.
A union of heart and craft
The name Jumeler evokes connection — between people, projects, and neighbourhoods. Here, everything feels in sync: the café bridges the comforting world of Candeur’s baked goods with the warmth of a simple, human gathering place. With its high ceilings, brick walls, and wood accents, the space exudes that signature Montreal charm — a little raw, deeply welcoming. A large painting of Annie and their son hangs on one wall, a tender, personal touch that anchors the café’s heart.
Treats and creative drinks
Jumeler features all the Candeur classics that earned the bakery its reputation. The famous carrot cake is rich, moist, and nearly perfect. The pickle scone surprises with its savoury-buttery balance — addictive from the first bite. The blueberry muffin, brightened with lemon, tastes like a summer morning, while the white chocolate and sesame cookie delights with its melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Coffee lovers will find all the essentials prepared with care, but the signature drinks steal the show. The salted brown-butter latte recalls caramel popcorn — comforting, indulgent, and impossible to resist, especially served hot. The iced strawberry and pink peppercorn matcha is another standout: fresh, floral, and lightly spiced, the perfect companion to a lazy afternoon.
A gentle atmosphere
Jumeler also charms with its peaceful, unhurried vibe. There’s no rush here — just the soft hum of espresso, quiet conversation, and time that seems to slow down.
With Jumeler, Annie and Joseph have created a heartfelt gathering place that’s as generous and tender as they are. A beautiful new addition to the Village — and one you’ll want to return to again and again.
