Feuilleté Café: a charming café on Bellechasse Street

On Bellechasse Street in Montréal lies Feuilleté Café, a charming little spot winning over locals with excellent coffee and utterly irresistible pastries.

Trained in pastry at the ITHQ, Joshua De Gagné had long dreamt of opening his own café. In July 2023, he brought Feuilleté Café to life in his grandmother’s former space, alongside pastry chef Frédérique Lévesque. Having previously worked at renowned establishments such as Patrice Pâtissier, Automne Boulangerie and Chasse Galerie, Frédérique helped shape the early creations that would define the café. Together, they laid the foundation for what would quickly become a neighbourhood favourite. Today, Joshua carries the torch on his own, still driven by the same commitment to excellence as on day one.

“It’s both a café and a pastry shop,” Joshua explains. And indeed: the coffee is just as good as the pastries — and vice versa. They even made it onto our list of the best pastry shops in the city! The coffee, roasted by 94 Celsius, strikes a balance somewhere between third-wave and Italian espresso — accessible, well-rounded and universally appreciated.

Joshua and his team quickly found their stride and are enjoying remarkable success, thanks in part to their pastries, all made fresh on-site daily. We highly recommend the soft zucchini muffin and the bacon, cheese and egg croissant — truly divine. The brownie cookie is equally decadent: a soft, brownie-style cookie with molten chocolate inside. Dreamy (!!)

Feuilleté Café is a gathering place, deeply rooted in its community and proudly showcasing local products — some of which even come from their family land.

We love Feuilleté for its cuteness and warmth, for the fact that everything is fresh and homemade. And we keep going back, again and again, for the genuinely heartfelt welcome from Joshua and his team.

Wishing them every success for the road ahead!
