Nestled in the heart of Frelighsburg, Aux 2 Clochers perfectly embodies the spirit of a country bistro—where the food is good, simple, and made with heart. This restaurant, taken over in October 2024 by Maxance Ferland and Julien Archambault-Leclerc—the duo behind the now-closed Passe-Montagne—celebrates local ingredients in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

After their lease at Passe-Montagne ended, Maxance and Julien were on the lookout for a new project. Around the same time, the former owners of Aux 2 Clochers were looking to sell. Maxance, who has been a regular at the establishment for as long as she can remember, and Julien were the perfect pair to take the reins of this local institution.

Here, the cuisine is comforting and family-style, with a menu focused on the freshness of local ingredients. Maxance updates the restaurant’s classic dishes while preserving its essence. The plates are accessible yet carefully crafted. Several staples remain on the menu, like the famous club sandwich and the burger, now slightly reinvented. Maxance adds her personal touch with dishes like a delicious salmon tartare and handmade gnocchi. “The idea was to make everything as accessible as possible. We offer several gluten-free options,” she notes. Indeed, the gnocchi are gluten-free, and we were lucky enough to try the gluten-free arancini—which were excellent. And whatever you do, don’t leave without ordering dessert: the dulce de leche brownie is an absolute showstopper!

When it comes to drinks, Aux 2 Clochers does not disappoint. Julien has curated a thoughtful wine list, alongside a fine selection of local beers and ciders—Frelighsburg is, after all, famous for its apples. The menu includes both natural wines and classic appellations, offering something for every taste, all at very reasonable prices. And to top it off, Julien proudly brought Labatt 50 into the house!

The ambiance at Aux 2 Clochers is what truly sets it apart. The décor has been subtly modernized, including a wine wall at the restaurant’s entrance—a signature of the new owners. Yet the place retains all its charm and authenticity, remaining as welcoming and cozy as ever. The setting is truly picturesque, and the back patio will make you want to come back, both for lunch and dinner.

“We’re proud, after so many years in the industry, to have a place that reflects who we are. We have a team, and we’re helping support the local economy of a town we deeply love. That means a lot to us,” Julien shares.

If you’re passing through, stop in! We guarantee you’ll be charmed by Julien’s warm welcome and Maxance’s cooking—and don’t forget to say hello from us!
