If, like us, you’re a fan of the creations from Aube Boulangerie in Hochelaga, you’ll be thrilled to hear about the opening of a brand new Aube Café—this time, right in the heart of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
The project is the work of David Ollu (Hélicoptère, Café Hélico, Copilote), Stéphanie Gagnon-Laberge, and Adrien Allard. “The Museum approached us—they wanted to develop a food offering that truly represents Montreal,” explains Stéphanie. And mission accomplished: already on our list of the best bakeries in Montreal, Aube is undoubtedly a local favorite—now also in the downtown core. “We hadn’t planned on expanding Aube with new locations, but this opportunity was just too good to pass up,” she adds.
“This is mainly a café and a lunch stop,” Stéphanie clarifies. The main production still happens in Hochelaga, but the Museum counter offers the same excellent coffee roasted by Jungle, pastries crafted by Stéphanie (which we love!), and sandwiches made with Adrien’s signature breads. A special mention goes to the capicollo sandwich with garlic confit mayo, olives, and provolone—or the homemade yogurt with compote and granola: a simple, beautifully executed morning classic.
Opened in record time, the space is spacious and bright, with plenty of seating and a clean, minimalist aesthetic warmed by Aube’s signature colors. The pastries are proudly displayed on the counter, instantly tempting anyone who walks in.
Aube Café is a wonderful new option for a coffee break or lunch at the Museum of Fine Arts—and more broadly, in downtown Montreal. We love Aube for its consistent quality, warm service, and lovingly made products. A spot to discover—or rediscover—without delay.
