Located in the heart of Saint-Sauveur, Rouge Tomate is a charming daytime café and evening wine bar that perfectly captures the spirit of the Laurentians. Half wine bar, half fine foods boutique, the space blends a laid-back atmosphere with thoughtful, seasonal cuisine in a bright and inviting setting.

Born and raised in the Laurentians, between Val-David and Saint-Sauveur, owner Juliet Zacharkiw wanted to bring a touch of Montreal café-restaurant culture back home. By taking over her mother’s former gourmet shop, she reimagined the space in her own image: a warm, versatile spot where you can work with a coffee in the morning, enjoy a delicious lunch, or share a few bottles with friends come evening.

In November 2024, after putting aside an expansion project, Juliet decided instead to cleverly transform the existing layout into a true two-in-one concept: a neighborhood café and fine grocery during the day, and an intimate wine bar by night. The result: Rouge Tomate and its two terraces, a setting that evolves with the day, and an offering that’s as varied as it is welcoming.

From Morning to Night

During the day, at Rouge Tomate you can grab a great coffee, enjoy a lunch, pick up a homemade dessert, or stock your pantry with carefully selected sauces, fresh pastas, preserves, and bottles. The wine shop section is full of treasures—private imports, local and international bottles, and personal favorites curated with care and love.

At night, from Wednesday to Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m., the mood shifts. The space at Rouge Tomate transforms into a cozy, gastronomic wine bar with a list of over 120 bottles, a rotating selection by the glass, and a weekly changing menu of 13 seasonal sharing plates. Guests are encouraged to choose 4 to 6 dishes to sample the full range of the kitchen—refined yet accessible cuisine paired with attentive service.

Special collaborations with wineries and pop-up events add even more flavor to the experience at Rouge Tomate. This is the kind of place where you come to explore, to taste, and to come back again and again. The interior, designed in collaboration with M Architecture, reflects the heart of the project: warm, airy, and fluid. Juliet had a clear vision of what she wanted—and it shows.

When asked what she’s most proud of, Juliet doesn’t hesitate:
“That I managed to bring both energies to life in the same space. Despite the challenges, I created a place where a café and a wine bar truly coexist.”

And you can feel it the moment you walk through the door: Rouge Tomate is a vibrant, generous place, rooted in the neighborhood—a place to drink, eat, chat, discover… and most of all, return to.

Enjoy the visit!
