The owners of Lou’s (Peter Mant, Max Ruiz Laing, Liam Barron, Phil Allard, and Renaud Lambert) have just opened a new restaurant next door that’s already making waves: Rendez-vous. Combining the intimacy of a wine cellar with the quality of dishes from an excellent restaurant, Rendez-vous brings together the best of both worlds.

Curious about the origin of its name, we asked the owners. “We wanted a name that was accessible, a nod to the idea of the restaurant as a date spot,” explain Max and Peter. “There are only 20 seats, so the atmosphere is intimate and cozy. We went with a slightly cheesy name, even though the restaurant itself is far from cheesy!” It’s the kind of restaurant you’d want to be taken to on a date, but the dishes are anything but predictable: creative, flavorful, and delicate.

Rendez-vous stands apart from its big brother Lou’s, which offers classic, comforting Italian-American dishes. Here, the approach is more playful and sophisticated, with each dish inviting discovery. “The menu, inspired by European flavors, is designed to highlight local products while incorporating exceptional ingredients from elsewhere,” says Chef Liam Barron. The menu will evolve with the seasons and feature special dishes, ensuring surprises with every visit. The portions are generous, so whether you’re sharing or dining alone, everyone will find something to enjoy.

As for the wine list, sommelier Dora Vincze offers a selection of fresh, vibrant, and accessible wines, perfect for toasting and enjoying the moment. Similarly, the cocktail menu features affordable creations with Mediterranean accents. You’ll definitely want to give them a try!

Rendez-vous is a wonderful addition to the West Island. The décor, thoughtfully designed by the owners, brings a breath of fresh air and modernity to the neighborhood. White and wood tones brighten the space, while the open kitchen lets you watch the chefs in action. With only a few seats, the atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Rendez-vous, we’re already in love with this place!
