Catch is a new restaurant and oyster bar in St-Bruno that offers great food in a friendly atmosphere!

Located on Montarville street, between several small boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, the establishment is a nice addition to the neighbourhood. The project is the work of Brice Hurteau, also owner of La Réserve in Candiac. Brice wanted to create a restaurant with a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere where one could enjoy an excellent meal. Well, he succeeded! Opened in July 2017, the restaurant quickly became very popular and customers abound.

The 50-seat restaurant is very cozy. With its industrial look, the emphasis is on the open kitchen. For people who like to watch the action in the kitchen, it is ideal. Everything here is quite attractive: the wooden tables, the grey metal chairs, and of course the blue ceramic wall with a large yellow neon oyster. For those who prefer to eat outside, their terrace seats about 20 during the nice season.

The menu at Catch changes with the seasons and is developed by Brice, chef Alexandre Thériault, and his team. The creative meetings are very effective, because since the opening, they have been able to surprise their customers and satisfy the most adventurous as well as the conservative. The menu is made up mainly of starters, which are ideal for tasting and sharing. We find appetizers focused on raw ingredients: octopus, tartares, tatakis, salads, and more. Our favourite was the grilled octopus served with salsa verde and sour cream. For the main courses, there are a few meats, fish and seafood. We also recommend without hesitation the pork flank steak served with parsnip purée and root vegetables; for the more gourmet, the restaurant can add a pan-fried foie gras cutlet to the dish – it takes the experience to the next level! Another thing not to be missed during your visit is the dessert. If you thought you were making the best pie in Quebec, we have to point out that you are living a lie! As of July 2017, you have been dethroned by the Catch’s buttermilk pie. Made with heavenly vanilla, a graham cracker crust, and strawberry coulis; it is the perfect blend that, presumably, was kept secret in heaven all this time.

To drink, there is a great wine list made up entirely of private imports. Jordan Brossard is responsible for making the right choices. Don’t hesitate to ask him for advice on the spot, he will be happy to guide you in finding the perfect match for your meal. Catch also offers a cocktail list created by Philippe Lamarche and a small selection of beers; there is something for everyone’s taste.

The restaurant as a whole is a true success: cool atmosphere, a sophisticated menu and a wine list to match. Without having to cross the bridge, it’s a scenario that makes the owner very proud. With an average bill of $35 per person, we’re sure the restaurant will continue to grow in popularity. If you are in the Saint-Bruno area, we recommend a visit, you won’t be disappointed!
