Sabayon, the best new restaurant in Canada!
Written by Jean-Philippe Tastet
The enRoute Top 10 Best New Restaurants 2024 list is here, and Quebec shines once again! Sabayon, the best new restaurant in Canada, has claimed the number one spot on this prestigious list! The highly anticipated countdown of Canada’s best new restaurants, published annually by Air Canada enRoute magazine, included three Quebec establishments in the Top 10 this year: #1 Sabayon, #3 Maison de Soma, and #6 Parapluie.
To create this annual list, enRoute relies on recommendations from culinary experts across Canada. Then, an undercover reporter embarks on a true gastronomic marathon across the country to evaluate each spot. Among the 30 new establishments initially shortlisted, only “the most memorable” secured a place in the final Top 10. This selection highlights the innovation and passion of restaurateurs from each province and territory, showcasing Canadian culinary artisans on the national stage.
Once again this year, Quebec stands out with no less than eight restaurants among enRoute‘s finalists. Here are the Quebec establishments that captured the jury’s attention to make it among the 30 finalists: Caméline, Casavant, Île de France, Heni, Juliette Plaza, Maison de Soma, Parapluie, and Sabayon.
The trio of Quebec establishments ranks high in the national Top 10 with unique concepts and cuisines that reflect the diversity and refinement of Quebec’s gastronomic scene. Parapluie stands out with its lively atmosphere and flavorful dishes that showcase local producers in a relaxed setting. Maison de Soma offers a true escape in the heart of Mont-Tremblant with its rustic, countryside-inspired cuisine. Finally, Sabayon, crowned Canada’s best new restaurant and led by the talented couple Patrice Demers and Marie-Josée Beaudoin, impresses with a tasting menu where each dish is an experience in itself — we even predict a Michelin Star in their future.
Here are the 10 winners of the Best New Restaurants 2024: Bar Prima, Café Malabar, Crumb Queen, Fat Rabbit, Gary’s, Maison de Soma, Mhel, Parapluie, Sabayon, and Takja BBQ.
