Tucked away above a paint store in a small Lachine space, Pizza Frankie’s serves up some of the best pizza in the city. There’s no dining room here, no frills — just exceptional pizza, sold by the slice or as a whole pie, to go.
This family-run project is led by two passionate brothers, Donny and Danny Mellozzi. They grew up immersed in the food world thanks to their father, Francesco, owner of the beloved Marchigiani butcher shop in LaSalle, in business since 1959. What started as Sunday pizza-making sessions in their basement eventually turned into the real deal: their own oven, their own shop. Frankie’s is a tribute to their father, their roots, and, above all, to authentic pizza.
At Frankie’s, the focus is on the forno — a true Italian-made, hand-built oven. Their dough is fermented for three days using the traditional biga method, resulting in a crust that’s thin, crisp, and delightfully airy.
Every ingredient is carefully chosen: Rosso Gargano tomatoes from Puglia, fior di latte, cup’n’char pepperoni, creamy burrata, house-made spicy honey, and cured meats straight from the family butcher shop. Nothing is left to chance.
Expect to find a deliciously crispy Roman-style pizza with sweet and spicy notes, an 18-inch New York-style pizza perfect for sharing, and even a New Haven-style pie with grass-fed mozzarella, pecorino, and a signature extra bake. And don’t miss the mortadella sandwich: homemade schiacciata bread, thinly sliced mortadella, pistachio pesto, and stracciatella — it’s a showstopper.
Most people end up eating their slice right outside the shop — they just can’t wait to get home. It’s the kind of neighborhood pizza joint that feels straight out of New York. Frankie’s also offers catering and pre-orders via Instagram or UberEats.
Pizza Frankie’s is the kind of spot you want to keep all to yourself — but it’s just too good not to share. Buon appetito!
