ton-quartier is a new café and local grocer that recently opened in Rosemont! This beautiful address is the perfect place to get local and homemade groceries, but also to enjoy a hot drink, breakfast, or a lunch to-go. Whether it’s at the counter or in the market section, you’ll find 100% fresh, seasonal Quebec products.

Behind ton-quartier is the remarkable teamwork of five co-owners who joined forces to launch this project. Among them are the owners of Bar Palco in Verdun, and the restaurant in the new spa, Forëna, located in Saint-Bruno.

The name came naturally to the owners, who wanted to be part of the community. ton-quartier reflects the values of the company, based on the importance of offering quality Quebec products to the neighbourhood.

When we asked one of the co-owners if it was difficult to open a business during the pandemic, Myriam Tamisier answered that difficult was an understatement. Their biggest challenge is the small team they currently work with, which means that each person has to work harder to keep the café running. But Myriam is pleasantly surprised by the unexpected enthusiasm for the opening of ton-quartier and confides that it is something that brings them great reassurance moving forward.

In this small and charming shop, we find homemade groceries, sauces, preserves, and pastries. However, it is the ready-to-eat and butchery products that are in the spotlight. Among the ready-to-eat products that are going fast, we are told that the falafels with red bell pepper and black lemon sauce are the staples of the moment. As for the meats, they come from Pascal le Boucher, an excellent butcher shop in Villeray. ton-quartier is the first place where you can find these products other than the butcher shop.

Speaking of specialties, don’t forget the take-out counter, which currently offers a delicious menu of deluxe sandwiches prepared by chef Rita-Adèle Beaulieu (of the restaurant La Traversée at the Bota Bota spa). Other lunch items will be available soon at the counter, and we’re excited for them!

In addition to the branch that just opened in Rosemont, two other branches will soon open in the Ville-Marie and Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhoods. Why did they choose these locations? The team explains that these are neighbourhoods that they know well since some of them live there. They have a strong sense of belonging to these neighbourhoods and know how to approach the people in them.

In order to offer you the cream of the crop when it comes to Quebec products, the team even goes so far as to pick the ingredients themselves from their partner farms. They are passionate people who care deeply about the local economy, the quality of the food, and the people they have the chance to meet in the course of their work. So, if you’re looking to get some delicious local food and homemade meals, you absolutely must stop by ton-quartier. You can check out the website right here for more details. Go support them!
