Déso Burger opened in 2003 in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, founded by André Désautels and Sharon Furlotte. The name of this gourmet institution is no coincidence—“Déso” is the friendly nickname for Désautels.

In 2019, the spot was taken over by Adam Roy and David Mineau. For Adam, it was almost like coming home—he had worked there as a teenager during his student days. “At first, I wasn’t sure about taking over the snack bar… I had made so many burgers here!” he says with a laugh. But the decision soon felt obvious—running a place he knew inside and out was simply natural. Together with David, he now carries on the mission of keeping this iconic South Shore eatery alive.

What makes Déso famous is, of course, its burger plat—a very thin burger served on a toasted and flattened bun. The Classique Déso is an absolute must: fresh ground beef, the secret chili sauce created by André and Sharon, Swiss cheese, mustard, onions, and tomatoes. The buffalo chicken burger is also worth a trip—crispy fried chicken, house-made ranch sauce, melty cheese, sweet-and-spicy buffalo sauce, a brioche bun, and a generous helping of pickles. It’s a flavor and texture explosion, perfect for hearty appetites. The vegetarian burger holds its own too, with a plant-based patty, brioche bun, chipotle mayo, cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, banana pepper, and guacamole—flavorful, zesty, and perfectly balanced.

Poutine lovers are in for a treat too, with six generous varieties—from the classic to the Italian-style Déso, as well as Thai chicken, buffalo chicken, taco, and even pogo poutine—bringing a creative twist to comfort food.

It’s impossible to leave Déso without trying their lobster roll, made with real lobster meat, brightened with chives and lemon, and served in a lightly grilled bun. A fresh, simple, and very well-executed classic.

Déso also operates food trucks, which can be booked for events. For all the details, check their website—it’s a great option for anyone who wants a simple yet indulgent menu.

Inside, the atmosphere recalls 1970s American diners—retro banquettes, bold colors, and vintage touches that feel like stepping into a scene from Grease. In warmer months, the large patio is the perfect spot to enjoy a burger in the sun.

Déso is the snack bar you simply have to visit when you’re craving an outstanding burger and a generous poutine—but above all, when you want warm, friendly service.
