Bars and Restaurants to Watch Hockey in Montreal

Looking for bars and restaurants to watch hockey in Montreal? Look no further! Hockey here is more than just a sport—it’s a tradition, a religion, a moment of connection with friends and family—especially when paired with good food and a welcoming atmosphere.

This season’s playoffs promise to be electrifying right up to the very end, and you can feel the passion of the fans, especially with our beloved Habs. As playoff fever takes hold, we’re already looking forward to those game nights filled with delicious dishes and great company. Knowing that many hockey fans, like us, love to watch the game while enjoying a good meal, we’ve put together a list of places where you can eat well and catch the game.

In Montreal, there is no shortage of places to experience the excitement somewhere other than at home. Some prefer the energy of a packed pub with a giant screen, cold pints, and comforting food, while others go for a more food-driven spot where they can follow the game without giving up the pleasure of eating well. Whether you are in the mood for chicken wings and beer, a decadent sandwich, shareable plates, or something a little more polished, the city is full of places where the atmosphere rises with every play. That is also what makes hockey nights in Montreal so enjoyable: that very local ability to turn a game into a proper night out.

For more tasty options to enjoy hockey, be sure to check out our list of the best chicken wings and the best fried chicken spots.

Enjoy your meal and the game!

Double’s

Double’s Late Night is breathing new life into Mile-End with a true modern dive bar experience. Tucked away in a half-basement on Avenue du Parc, this spot was created by the duo Danny Smiles (Le Violon, ex-Bremner) and Coach Vic (Pasta Pooks), in collaboration with A5 Hospitality. With its dim lighting, pool tables, long benches, game screens, and perfectly crafted cocktails, it has everything — all wrapped up in a sleek design by Studio Kiff. On the food side, the smash burger and fried onions are always a hit. Simple, effective, festive. Whether you’re there for a drink, a game, a craving, or just because it’s cool, it’s the place to be.

The vibe: dim lighting, sporty energy, and cocktails in hand. The menu: $1 wings, $2 hot dogs, poutine, 2-for-1 beers, and game night specials. Whether it’s a fun night out, a playful date, or a lively post-game hang, this is the place to be.

Here, it’s not just NHL games on the screen — the bar also cheers proudly for Victoire Montréal, with every game shown on the big screen in an electric atmosphere. Between drag nights, queer line dancing, and revisited pub classics, Champs has become a true gathering place where sports, diversity, and good times come together.

Bruno

Bruno Sport Bar

Bruno Sport Bar feels like an Italian café that developed a soft spot for game nights. The laughter of a group of friends mingles with the crunch of a grilled panini as a goal lights up the screens. The place may be small, but the atmosphere is anything but: a neighbourhood bar where sports bring people together, the service feels genuine, and every game becomes a reason to come back.

Messorem

Messorem Bracitorium, in the Sud-Ouest, is a well-known spot for its beers, its distinctly festive atmosphere, and its vast terrace—one of the most impressive in the city. Messorem has developed two distinct beer lines, available respectively in grocery stores or in dépanneurs and specialty shops. Their beers can therefore be found in a wide variety of locations, always kept cold! That said, visiting the brewery directly remains the best option to access the full range and special releases. For hockey season, games will be broadcast on a giant screen, and Mitch Deli wings will be back on the menu on Canadiens game nights.
