This European-style brasserie in Old Montreal has become an institution that feels like it has always been there. Open for more than 20 years, the grand Holder brasserie serves simple, flavourful and well-executed dishes. No wonder the place is packed from opening to closing. Set in a magnificent building on McGill Street, the large restaurant welcomes you into a vibrant atmosphere. The room buzzes with movement and laughter, and everyone eats well. People come here for the house classics, including the excellent fresh mussels in marinière sauce. They come with a generous portion of crispy fries and pair very well with a glass of white wine.

Leméac

Leméac is a restaurant we hold especially dear, where the quality is always consistent. In an elegant, classic French brasserie setting, you’ll enjoy a brasserie menu of flavourful dishes. The ingredients are always top-notch, and the establishment’s chic clientele knows it well. Everything is served until late in the evening. Among its specialties is an excellent dish of moules-frites in a broth of chicken stock, fish fumet, white wine, a touch of Ricard, confit tomatoes and plenty of herbs: a delight! The service is always courteous and efficient; everything at Leméac is balanced just right. We’re very fond of this chic spot on Laurier Avenue West.

Open since 2009, Lucille’s is a must on Monkland Avenue in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood. Here, you’ll enjoy oysters and seafood classics in a festive, friendly atmosphere, with generous portions. The Prince Edward Island mussels come either in white wine or in a cream and garlic sauce, served with truffle- and rosemary-scented fries. A great spot for moules-frites in Montreal’s West End.
