Gourmet Tours of Chinese Cuisine in Montreal – The TASTET x Montréal en Lumière Gourmet Tours are back, and just in time for the impending holiday season! With the help of your feedback from 2019, the TASTET team has prepared six new and exciting themes for this year’s tours. This time around, you are invited to discover the worlds of saké, “real wine”, hidden bars, Greek cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and Italian cuisine in Montreal.

We knew that we needed to bring in an expert for our Chinese cuisine tours, so we are happy to announce that the extraordinary Chinese chef Suzanne Liu will be accompanying us for the duration of all three tours! Suzanne was the former chef at restaurant Soy in the Mile-End, and is now in charge of Bistro Liu’s delicious Chinese cuisine. With the help of Suzanne, we have crafted a culinary tour of Montreal’s Chinatown that will help uncover the nuanced characteristics of this complex culinary culture. Alongside a Tastet team member, Suzanne will be introducing you to the best gourmet addresses in the neighbourhood, all while sharing her impressive background of knowledge about the cuisine. On the menu: dim sum, Chinese pastries, bubble tea and an authentic Chinese meal.

Restaurant Impérial

Located on the 6th floor of the Swatow Plaza, Restaurant Imperial offers the best dim sum in all of Montreal. The owners opened the restaurant with a desire to showcase “real Chinese cuisine” to Montrealers, which emphasized the richness and finesse of the cuisine, as well as the importance of dining in the company of friends and family. It all comes together in a friendly and casual atmosphere, inside a dining room that accommodates up to 500 people!

Pâtisserie Coco

Pâtisserie Coco has greatly contributed to the growing youthful and contemporary energy that is emerging in Montreal’s Chinatown. This friendly pastry shop specializes in Hong Kongese classics. You can enjoy a wide variety of both sweet and savoury creations, including specialties like Hong Kong egg tarts,  mochi, barbecue pork buns and the iconic pineapple buns (which, ironically, do not contain any pineapple).

Mon Nan

Mon Nan is a Cantonese term that means “10,000 years”. This name perfectly encompasses restaurant Mon Nan’s character, as the establishment has been in operation since 1982 and is recognized as a pillar of the neighbourhood. On the menu, you will find an impressive selection of classic Chinese dishes.  The menu has hardly changed since the restaurant first opened, and it features recipes that have been passed down through the family’s generations!
